Bali Dua is Jalan Jalan's follow-up to the ensemble's wonderfully intimate debut, Bali. This CD is — surprisingly — more stunning than the first. Jalan Jalan uses mind-altering techniques and sounds to promote and foster deep relaxation through deep meditation. Bronze keyboards, samples, and computerized sounds combine to create wide atmospheres with organic textures. The timbres border on symphonic and orchestral. While it might be unintentional, Jalan Jalan has created a special hybrid. This disc has all the positive elements of new age, world fusion, ambient, minimalism, and space music. The odd element is the spacescape, but it is there. Deep listeners will be able to envision this as a pathway through the stars. This disc will appeal to fans of Xumantra, Crystal Voices, Jonathan Goldman, and Riley Lee.
