Details
[Edit]
Still only 26 when this album was released, pianist Jan Lisiecki is already a veteran of the recording studio. Indeed, this is his eighth album for Deutsche Grammophon and his third of music by Chopin. Recorded over a week in Berlin in October 2020, the music has a palpable sense of ease, born from a series of relaxed sessions. Lisiecki is an old head on young shoulders, making for a thoughtful player with a wonderful sense of line, which is vital in these gloriously songful nocturnes. Whether in the familiar C Minor and C-Sharp Minor or in less often encountered pieces, he is an ideal companion, and the recorded sound is pristine.
