[Edit]Jason Mraz's third long player is more Michael Jackson than Jack Johnson this time around. "Make It Mine" introduces the album with a blue-eyed, soul-touched pop that sounds like Mraz has been blasting Off The Wall while en route to the beach. Fittingly, the beachy Colbie Callat duets on "Lucky" (a romantic ditty about falling for a best friend). The playfully perverted "Butterfly" floats with a lofty horn section and a Hall & Oates inspired strut as Mraz gets his seductive lyrics on before somehow pulling off a gutsy scat-singing solo that would make Jamiroquai's Jay Kay blush. Mraz picks up his almost forgotten acoustic guitar on the mellow "Live High" which sounds a bit like Josh Rouse with a groove. The rootsy and cutesy "I'm Yours" is an obvious choice for first single with it's reggae rhythms, doo-wop harmonies, electric jazz piano, and lyrics endearing enough to theme a high school prom, and then there's the all too perfect waltzing "Beautiful Mess" which could have been written for the sole purpose of slow dancing in a rented tux.
