[Edit]Coming off a failed marriage that ended in — according to the singer — tears and therapy, banda star Jenni Rivera returned to the studio and recorded Si Quieres Verme Llorar on her own in 1999. Bad news is that it's a low point in her discography, featuring performances that are tentative and material that's mostly medium. Still, for the longtime fan it's an interesting effort in that mariachi and ranchera music are the genres banda singer Rivera flirts with here, genres the late singer wouldn't experiment with again until 2009 and the album La Gran Señora. Two years after this Sony release, Rivera would be on the Fonovisa label and thrilling banda fans with her album Se las Voy a Dar a Otro, so consider this transitional work a piece of the puzzle, worth examination once the full picture has been seen, or rather, heard.
