[Edit]Bounce Make Model is Jimmy Edgar's second brief release for Warp, a six-track EP that lasts half an hour. Since he melds hip-hop into techno, it makes sense that his productions often come out sounding like modern-day electro. The dusky "LBLB Detroit" veers close to straight-up R&B, where a nervous twitch offsets a slow grind (the silly sex grunts are a distraction). "Beau," the best track on the disc, refashions rigid Detroit-style electro (the Direct Beat label, some stray Underground Resistance tracks) into micro-electro, where bass drums patter (instead of thump) and keyboards flicker (instead of zap). Edgar's in top form when he shoots straight, relying on his melodic sense rather than his urge to goof around.
