Details
[Edit]Poet, philosopher, and artist Kahlil Gibran, who lived from 1883 to 1931, was born in Lebanon. He made the United States home for his last 20 years. Many of his books are illustrated with his own images, much in the way that William Blake would enhance the strength of his words with his mystical drawings. Gibran's most famous work is The Prophet, a 27-chapter tome of teachings and messages designed to help guide one through life's many and varied experiences. Radio personality Joey Reynolds and composer/arranger/producer Jimmy Wisner have combined to create this CD, which includes several passages from this work. Reynolds does the narration, while Wisner provides the musical background, appropriately serious and somber for the depth of feeling that comes through in Gibran's work. These writings are not religious, but promote a set of principles which, while found in Judeo-Christian tradition, deal with such matters as marriage, work, etc., on a philosophical rather than spiritual plane. This release is designed to make available the inspiration that Reynolds and Wisner have found helpful and want to share with others.
