The Boston Camerata is an ensemble of vocalists and instrumentalists specializing in the performance of music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and early Baroque eras. This title features some works written in Latin for church services and others in the vernacular that are accompanied songs with dance rhythms and folk melodies. Much of the music is a cappella, but there is ample accompaniment on recorder, lute, viols, sackbut and other assorted soft Renaissance instruments. The contrasting vocal colors and instrumental textures weave a brilliant aural tapestry of Christmas enjoyment.
