Evening Comes Early is the debut solo recording of gifted Irish folk guitarist, songwriter, and singer John Doyle, known from his time as a member of the popular Celtic group Solas. Doyle tested his musical wings long before Solas, though. Musical talent runs in his family, so he got an early introduction to performing. By the time he was in his teens he was a member of his first group. The tunes on this album follow the normal folk path of storytelling, everyday life, and trying to right wrongs. Along with his Irish folk, Doyle mixes in a little American and British folk as well, making the sound appeal to an even larger audience. One of the artists who helped out on this album was John Doyle's father, singer Sean Doyle. Some of the 14 tracks on this offering are "The Dark Slender Boy," "My Parents Reared Me Tenderly," "Crooked Jack," "The Morning Dew and the Morning Star," and "Willie Riley."
