Details
[Edit]Sterling is a Chicago, IL-based avant-garde rock band, featuring a two-man guitar attack and a bass-drums rhythm section. With this 2003 effort, the group injects a potpourri of psychedelic guitar lines with rhythmically charged crunch chords and firm rock beats. Occasionally, guitarist Jim DelFosse tempers the predominately pulsating edge with soft, acoustic piano interludes and background treatments. They pursue hallowed dreamscapes with sinuously devised textures of sound amid an interleaving ebb and flow. Moreover, notions of early-'70s Pink Floyd melded with ominously sounding chord voicings find a happy medium here. Whereas, the musicians' methodology features stark musical terrains conjoined with changeable themes and twang-oriented guitar parts. They do project a strong sense of the dynamic sans any flashy soloing endeavors. But, it's all about mood-evoking scenarios topped off by atmospheric musings and heavy drums and bass grooves. As the sum of the parts, makes this outing an interesting endeavor.
