Man, who knew how much of an influence The Promise Ring were when they released "30 Degrees Everywhere?" Seriously, who knew that every overly sensitive kid in glasses would want to try their hardest to sound like them? Depending on who you talk to, this is either a good or bad thing. In the case of Joshua, it's all right. The uppity pop is pretty lingering, but with more of a laid back -dare it should be said- pessimistic tone to it. At least "A Whole New Theory" is not obnoxiously happy to the point to where it gets sickening really quick; but nor is it gloomy to where you would want to sport all black for the rest of your life. Joshua are just there, nothing too stand off-ish or out of the ordinary.
