[Edit]"Elan" and "Taste," neither of which are contained on the vinyl version of Doppelleben ("Taste" doesn't appear on the CD, either), are two of Justus Köhncke's lightest, most melodic neo-disco productions. For the first several seconds, "Elan" appears to be a minor variation on 2004's phenomenal "Timecode," but it gains footing as an elegant, lightly stomping track that hints at Köhncke's bootleg Chic remixes (credited to Science 2101, Science 2102, and Science 2103, if you're looking). "Taste" is relatively low-key, full of airy synth work, gorgeous in its own way. It should've found a home on the CD version of Doppelleben, even though it would've taken some of the focus off non-dance-pop (here's hoping it lands on Total 6).
