Details
[Edit]Released in Britain in 1993 and in the United States four years later, the Kaisers' debut album recreates 1960s Merseybeat with occasional forays into related styles of music (e.g., the Joe Meek-influenced instrumental "Valley of the Kaisers). In order to convey the excitement of the group's concerts (and probably also to save money), the Kaisers recorded the album in a day with mostly live one-takes. The performances are somewhat ragged and don't quite match the energy of their live shows, but this mono recording sounds both authentic and entertaining enough to appeal to fans of Liverpool bands such as the Big Three and the early Beatles, even though the world doesn't really need another cover version of "Money (That's What I Want)."
