Details
[Edit]This is a particularly intriguing set of spontaneous originals and free improvisations. Kali Z. (aka Zusaan Kali Fasteau) is mostly heard on synthesizer where she creates some very unusual sounds, particularly on five duets with tenor-saxophonist Kidd Jordan. On other selections she plays soprano, cello and drums, utilizing her voice during two numbers. In addition to the interplay with Jordan that was recorded in 2004, Kali Z. performs three duets with pianist Bobby Few in 2000, the same year that she recorded a pair of quartet numbers with Few, Jordan and bassist Sirone. Kali Z.'s music is often other-worldly and is full of surprises, never lacking in impressive musicianship, creativity or color.
