[Edit]After getting her start with the '90s girl-group Xscape, Atlanta-based artist Kandi has had a wild career that includes writing massive hit singles for the likes of TLC ("No Scrubs") and Destiny's Child ("Bills, Bills, Bills") among many others. She's won a GRAMMY and an ASCAP award, runs her own clothing boutique, and is a reality TV star, appearing on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. But her true love has always been singing, and she returns here with her second solo album (her debut, Hey Kandi was released in 2001). Kandi Koated is slick and shiny modern R&B, produced by the likes of Jazze Pha, Ne-Yo, the Justice League, and Blac Elvis. Her soaring vocals can stand up against most of her peers, while the lyrics center mostly around the familiar issues of love, family, heartbreak, struggle, and self-empowerment.
