Not quite as extreme as the Locust but still not to be taken lightly, Norway's Kaospilot unquestionably puts "kaos" at the forefront. In fact, it's post-hardcore punk that borders on grindcore with the volume and noise on 11. Fired with anger and aggression, this self-titled debut (following a split 7" with fellow Level Planer Neil Perry) may be too intense for many, but if you're a fan of extreme rock, this could quite possibly kick you in the shins. A melee of searing guitars, scorching vocals, and anarchic percussion, Kaospilot is the kind of band that should be just as much feared as respected. Feedback that resembles a siren kicks off this powerhouse of a record and the band rarely takes a breather. From the chaotic "Rethink the Guidelines" to the wild, one-minute "Dead Conversation," the quintet is brutal and unapologetic. The lyrics are frequently political, with the band questioning such things as our "system" and culture. Though it's nearly impossible to actually make any lyrics out, Kaospilot speaks like a kamikaze ready for battle.
