Details
[Edit]Although it seems like Keith Washington was an overnight success, the truth is that he was busy many years prior trying to find his way to the music charts as an artist. Finally, that ambition has come to fruition and the result is resplendent. The Detroit native's first single was the captivating "Kissing You." The soft, mellow intro bows to a dynamic pre-hook string arrangement before returning to an affectionate chorus. The ballad stayed on the Billboard R&B charts for 20 weeks, peaking at number one. The second single was "Are You Still in Love with Me." The lyric expresses much concern and Washington conveys that message in his urgent cry; the single topped off at number 15 on the Billboard R&B charts after 14 weeks. The third release was the more romantic title track "Make Time for Love." Unlike the prior two singles, "Make Time for Love" settles into a gentle rhythm. Washington, however, exerts his energy as the song gradually builds momentum. It climaxed at 22 after 15 weeks on the charts. "When You Love Somebody" sizzles with a feverish rhythm accented by a spirited bridge and Washington's convincing delivery. This is a superb song. It only managed to crack the Top 30 at 26 after a mere 11 weeks. The production on this album is excellent, as are Washington's vocals as he utilizes his vibrato on most of the selections. It was anticipated that Washington's emergence onto the music scene was to be followed by chart dominance, but contractual problems stifled that possibility. Notwithstanding, this album will be revered for years to come for its many gems.
