Details
[Edit]As a talented pianist, Kelley Hunt has proven she's quite capable of soulful, Chicago-style blues up to and including boogie-woogie. With Mercy she's vocally focused in a swamp queen's persona without dramatic histrionics or foggy backdrops, delving deep into no-nonsense subject material while still retaining her allure. Easily sliding between rock-blues with a contemporary edge, old-school and cool clockwork paced jazz, or ballad-type songs, Hunt sounds very comfortable throughout. Her slick shuffle "Wig Chalet" or the slow, choogling "Emerald City" displays a definite love of music from New Orleans. Via a persona rivaling the established front runner Janiva Magness, Kelley Hunt is well on the way to her own star status in the blues world. ~ Michael G. Nastos, Rovi
