From the spacious “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” rhythmically chaotic “Backseat Freestyle,” hypnotic “Swimming Pools (Drank),” and heart-breaking introspective “Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst,” each song is grounded by the uniquely impressive and sometimes painfully relatable lyrics of Lamar. As the triumphant closer “Compton” plays with west coast pioneer Dr. Dre featured, it becomes clear that a torch is being passed to a new hip-hop great. This deluxe version contains six bonus tracks.
