Coming out of Los Angeles, Kendrick Lamar is one of hip-hop's biggest new stars. Bridging the gap between underground and mainstream, he's worked with chart-topping icons like Dr. Dre, Game, and Drake, as well as indie favorites ScHoolboy Q, Talib Kweli, and Smoke DZA. His 2012 major-label debut, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, was declared a classic by just about every entertainment publication imaginable. But Section.80 is his actual first album, released a year earlier via Top Dawg Entertainment. Created for, by, and about "'80s babies," it overflows with freaky, electro-enhanced production, big weird hooks, and highly personal, melodramatic wordplay. Longtime homies Ab-Soul, BJ the Chicago Kid, GLC, and ScHoolboy Q share the mic, while standout joints include "Blow My Mind (Members Only)," "A.D.H.D.," "Ronald Reagan Era," and "Kush & Corinthians."
