[Edit]Comparisons to kindred spirits Buckcherry are inevitable; these L.A.-strip dwellers even have a song called "Cocaine Tongue," their own "All Lit Up," if you will. But that's more given the dearth of bands in the new millennium for whom wearing a Mötley Crüe Shout at the Devil tee isn't irony, but a way of life. In reality, the eponymous debut is more Faster Pussycat to BC's Van Halen, like snotty younger brothers as opposed to identical twins. The band's cover of the Cure's "Just Like Heaven" is reminiscent of the send-up Taime Downe's crew did to "You're So Vain," making it sound sleazy. The songwriting is catchy, the attitude is glam with a touch of eyeliner punk on the side, and though prospects for success are slim in a world that seems to have passed this style of music by, you can tell that Killingbird doesn't care; they just wanna rock, and they do an admirable job of it. ~ Brian O'Neill, Rovi
