Kim Robertson approaches the Celtic harp as a lover. Her touch is gentle and subtle and she accompanies her silky ministrations with velvet-soft vocals. Wood, Fire & Gold is a set of original and traditional tunes from Celtic, French, and early American heritages. It is a musical collage of many colors and deep acoustic atmospheres. Robertson's production team, led by Eric Segnitz and Peter Buffett, has fashioned those atmospheres on traditional and modern symphonic instruments. The string section, including Segnitz on solo violin and fretless bass, paints wonderful sonic pictures. The acoustic soundscape always comes back to Robertson — her harp and her voice. This strong effort will appeal to fans of Lisa Lynne, Dudley Evenson, Patricia Spero, and Constance Demby. It is essential for practitioners of holistic new age dogma.
