[Edit]Benny Latimore's tough-talking Southern soul began to make some inroads in the mid-'70s with this LP, which included his only #1 R&B hit, "Let's Straighten It Out." The singer, composer and keyboardist made no-nonsense, unsophisticated confessional soul and heartache ballads, plus an occasional uptempo number; at the time, he was making tunes with minimal production that put his coarse leads at the center. They were recorded for the Miami-based Glades label, and usually were regional rather than national hits. "Let's Straighten It Out" proved an exception.
