Details
[Edit]In their first or second LP, the Latin Souls display their great talents (soul singing, often falsetto) over Latin percussion. But they never hit the same tempo and groove of their other albums. Damnably, they fail to boogaloo and shingaling, which really is the point. The slow first track, "The Party Is Over," could have use as a closer to a deejay set (if not Ray Barretto's version of "Exodus"). The great "Guajira Controversial" also is beautifully rendered, but too slow for dancing. The rest of side one is a disappointment. Side two is good but not great listening; it really seems like filler for what should have been a great first side.
