[Edit]Lecker Sachen is the brainchild of Marcus Brachtendorf, who also fronts the Irish-influenced German band Mahones. With Lecker Sachen, Brachtendorf fuses his love for Irish instruments like uilleann pipes, whistles, and fiddle with urban hip-hop music. Unlike his work with Mahones, whose songs are sung in English, Brachtendorf sings all of Im tal der Infrarotlurche (which roughly translates to "in the valley of the infrared Amphibians") in his native German. This is a slickly produced recording; its edgier moments are comparable to the more commercial inclinations of Black 47, but Lecker Sachen generally lacks the aggression and in-your-face attitude of that band. This music really works when the traditional instruments are up front and competitive with all of the programming synonymous with hip-hop. Tracks like "Blue Meadows/Horseman of Moyrus" and "Diadndidnda" are examples of Lecker Sachen's concept at its best — traditional music meets urban contemporary.
