14 Frenzied Shakers features, oddly enough, 16 tracks by Montreal garage sensations Les Sexereenos. Recorded live on a four-track, this is the type of disc that would give an audiophile fits — like their previous effort, Live! In the Bed, 14 Frenzied Shakers features the muddiest sound this side of a Velvet Underground bootleg. However, the sound quality fits the band's lo-fi approach (in the grandest garage style, many of the lyrics are unintelligible), and, like any good party record, this disc sounds better the louder it is played. As for the music, the band offers up more of the same high energy, sex-drenched rock & roll found on their first disc, but it's hard to debate whether the band should take more musical risks when faced with the results — a fun, energetic garage rock record. Highlights include the rockabilly-tinged opener "Ruby D.," the Kinks-inspired "Don't Need You No More," and the freak-out closer, "Where Are You Now?"
