[Edit]L' Archiduc is a Brussels nightclub with excellent acoustics that is the setting for this live CD by Lew Tabackin. With bassist Philippe Aerts and drummer Felix Simtaine, Tabackin delivers one of his most exciting performances. A gritty but swinging "Night And Day," a long moving "In A Sentimental Mood," and the uptempo bop classic "Oleo" all feature Tabackin at his best on tenor sax; while the leader's flute sounds mystical on John Coltrane's "Wise One." This Belgian release may be hard to locate but it is well worth the effort.
