Details
[Edit]This riff on a famous novel is just part of what makes Meza the finest vallenato musician extant. He takes the Marques story and reworks it back into a small-town drama with brilliance, setting it to a melody that is amazingly sophisticated without ever going beyond tradition. This is, in fact, not your average rural accordionist, but a man who manages to be both sophisticated and true to what is still very much a roots music. It's amazing how many changes he can ring on what is, theoretically, a fairly simple idiom. An unacknowledged classic, this.
