This discount-priced compilation covers Lonestar's country hitmaking period of 1996-2004, including 14 of the band's 16 country Top Tens, among them the chart-toppers "No News," "Come Cryin' to Me," "Amazed," "Smile," "What About Now," "Tell Her," "I'm Already There," "My Front Porch Looking In," and "Mr. Mom." (Two Top Tens, "With Me" and "Walking in Memphis," are missing, replaced by a number 12, "Unusually Unusual," and a number 13, "Say When.") The chronological sequencing gives a sense of Lonestar's gradual homogenization, as it moves from the relatively honky tonk spirit of "Tequila Talkin'" to highly sentimental female-friendly ballads like "Amazed" and especially "I'm Already There" (their biggest hit of all). Lonestar is largely a singles band, and 16 Biggest Hits provides an economical way to collect their most popular singles on one disc.
