[Edit]Formerly a member of the Too Pure label's Seely — a respectable and occasionally brilliant dream pop band — Lori Scacco resurfaces on Scott Herren's Eastern Developments label, four full years after her band's final album. Assisted only by Kopernik's Tim Delaney on upright bass, Scacco has made a compact album of instrumentals that are private with a somber, low-level intensity. At the same time, each song is full of life, often made with nothing more than a few spare notes of piano and some lithe acoustic guitar. Like the most restful, composed moments of Talk Talk's last two albums, Circles has a healing quality that is positively magnetic.
