[Edit]After almost 30 years as the frontman of the satirical punk rock group Ilegales, Jorge Martínez decided it was time for a makeover. Enter Jorge Ilegal y los Magníficos, a five-piece combo featuring former Ilegales members that meticulously re-creates the sound and look of Latin dance orchestras of the 1950s, complete with vintage instruments and tailor-made suits. Their repertoire is dedicated to pre-rock & roll genres, such as the bolero, cha-cha, joropo, and guaracha (along with a bit of the Twist), and combines originals (with typically barbed Ilegales lyrics) with covers of artists such as Adriano Celentano and Joan Baptista Humet, as well as perennial favorites such as "Bésame Mucho."
