Mi Vida Sin Ti

Twenty-nine albums in and Mexican romantic music group Los Temerarios are still in awe of love, pouring themselves into the feeling as new relationships begin, and riding the storm as the dark clouds of heartache often roll in. Then, there is the recovery from devastating breakups, which the duo explore on the key highlight "Definitivamente Ya No Estoy Enamorado," a searching, string-filled number inspired by member Adolfo Angel's recent divorce. Tears flow and hearts burst open during the song's performance, but the title track covers the topic with more distance and grace, while "Días Nublados" is bittersweet bordering on sweet, and as soft as the clouds that fill its lyrics. Mi Vida Sin Ti may be based on all the hurt that comes with the end of an affair, but the wide musical spectrum goes from ranchera to straight pop with plenty of stops in between, and with the group's mature outlook, this mostly post-breakup album is much more versatile, alive, and hopeful than fans might expect.
