Details
[Edit]Picking up where Music to Drink By left off, this second (extremely) limited, self-released CD-R from Louis Logic compiles all the loose-change singles and unreleased tracks he recorded between 2000 and 2002. And it's another potent, 100-proof concoction that'll have you nicely inebriated by the time you're finished imbibing its generous fourteen tracks. But then, Logic's cutting and clever rhymes are so fluent and keen-edged (the gun powder-burst of nostalgic, street-corner linguistics from "Logic & Reason," for instance) that they'll properly fire up your synapses rather than knocking them off by the dozens. His producers hang with him quite capably, too. Should-be superstar J.J. Brown returned with trio of superb tracks (particularly of note: the jive-ass '70s soul groove of "Guilty as Charged 2001"), as did Celph Titled, who contributed both the track and—along with Demigodz partner Apathy—a guest verse to the eerie "Paper Mache," scraped together from a dirty rococo loop. They were joined by, among others, Cimer Amor (the awesome, fat-laced demo "Lecture"), Mister Jason of Porn Theatre Ushers (a pair of patented SP1200 marvels, "Happy Hour" and "Ready for War," both with Skitzofreniks frontman Charlie Bawles), King Honey (the nihilistic sci-fi of "Visceral Literal" and "Guilty as Charged 2000," very DJ Premier), and Boston whiz kid Insight, who built "Postal 2000" McGyver-like out of a space-age lounge sample, an alarm clock, and a chainsaw. If blitzed you must be, this is as fine an accompanying soundtrack as there is. At least until Logic's promised official debut.
