Details
[Edit]A lot of ostensibly indie bands have attempted country-tinged rock sounds, and with varying levels of success; at some point in the late '90s, it became quite fashionable for rock bands to record one-off "country" albums, but many groups wound up using the influence as a pose or stylistic embellishment, without earnestly believing in its sources. No matter what one decides about Where the Green Ends, Love Camp 7 can be given credit for being a rock band that is willing to get its hands dirty — the album's frequent use of honky-tonk guitar riffing adds a new level of interest to its proggy, '70s-rock-based pop composition. This doesn't necessarily put the album in the greatest of territories — many of the tracks seem too mired in traditional rock sounds to really make an impression — but at the very least, it's a seemingly honest combination of two disparate influences.
