[Edit]With multiple gold and platinum albums behind him, singer Luis Fonsi isn’t about to step out of his Latin pop comfort zone on Tierra Firme, but he still sounds quite inspired. Chalk it up to a very public divorce being put behind him, but whatever the reason, Fonsi is incredibly driven and free on the cathartic power ballad “Gritar” and completely in command of the dancefloor anthem “Explícame.” Loud blasts of courage, passion, and yearning fill this effervescent effort, but as the title references, the singer is too wise to let his feet leave the ground at this point, and every story of the heart comes with a healthy dose of authenticity. The same mix of rock, pop, and dance figures into the mix as last time out, but when it comes to heartfelt delivery, Tierra Firme is the album where Fonsi shines.
