Details
[Edit]This is an uncommon Brazilian instrumental release. Based in rhythms from the south region of that country, which is more known for its strict adherence to traditional, folkloric values, this album is a welcomed effort to universalize that folklore through improvisation and the addition of some discrete elements of classical modern harmony. Not a jazz album, it is interesting as a creative invention over compelling rhythms, not very much known abroad, of chamamé, milonga, and others, emanated from the borderline country of Argentina, as melted in Brazilian's south folklore and made theirs. Geraldo Flach (acoustic piano/keyboards) and Luiz Carlos Borges (accordion, violão, and voice) are both extremely competent musicians in their individual solo careers. Here they deliver their common conception of an universal interpretation for the gaúcha (from the Rio Grande do Sul state) tradition helped by percussion and a soprano sax in one track.
