Details
[Edit]Come Fly With Me is the first solo project for longtime Atlanta International Records artist Luther Barnes. Always recognized for his silky-smooth vocal delivery, Barnes is allowed the opportunity to stretch out a bit, artistically speaking, on this project. That begins with the "We Are the World"-styled title track. The tightly arranged ballad finds Barnes joined vocally by some of gospel's best, namely Dottie Peoples, Darwin Hobbs, Doug and Melvin Williams, along with his cousin, Deborah Barnes, who also co-wrote the song with Barnes. Legendary Mighty Clouds of Joy vocalist Joe Ligon joins forces with Barnes on the upbeat, traditional quartet-flavored "Satan Take Your Hands off Me." A song sure to put a tear into every dry eye is Barnes' tribute to his late mother, entitled "Still Missing You." Two other songs that will attract a bit of attention are Barnes' reworking of the classics "Oh How I Love Jesus," featuring Barnes and Maurette Brown Clark, and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness."
