Details
[Edit]"Rose Garden" was Lynn Anderson's career hit, a pop song that topped the country charts for several weeks and reached number one on the Cash Box pop charts. Her sound up to that point had been broadly appealing but easily identifiable as country, but immediately afterward, that began to change. You're My Man, her first album following Rose Garden, made further concessions to the pop crowd with covers of "Proud Mary," "Knock Three Times," and "Joy to the World." Producer Glenn Sutton contributed "I'm Gonna Write a Song," a fine composition that became a hit for Tommy Cash the same year. Although You're My Man made a calculated effort to cross over, even "Proud Mary" featured steel guitar, and the title track came nowhere near the top of the pop charts, despite giving Anderson her second number one country hit.
