Details
[Edit]A small but compelling hip-hop sub-genre, “fast rap'” has been around for a minute, pioneered by late-‘80s MCs like Kool G Rap, adopted by artists like Big Pun, and taken to the next level by Midwesterners, notably Eminem and Chicago's Twista, who in 1992 was proclaimed the fastest rapper in the world by no less an authority than the Guinness Book of World Records. Kansas City underground mainstay Mac Lethal is no stranger to the subterranean scene, releasing countless projects since the early 2000s, on labels like the now-defunct HHI, Rhymesayers, and his own Black Clover Records. On Fast As Hell Though, he hits us off with four songs that shatter the sound barrier, fitting in a ridiculous amount of words and verses into tracks that all clock in at under two and a half minutes. "Fastest Rapper Ever" and "Pale Kid Raps Faster" both live up to their names, "Dazed and Confused In 120 Seconds" breaks down the classic stoner flick, set to War's "Low Rider," while "An Ode to Charlie Sheen's Tiger Blood" gives props to the Warlock himself, peppered with some great interview snippets and wild animal sound effects.
