Originally released back in 1987 (long before death metal and grindcore were established genres and while pioneering bands Death and Napalm Death were just beginning), Grim Reality has been in and out of print over the years. Featuring songs such as "Ed Gein," "Son of Sam," "Mass Murderer," and "Serial Killer," the album showcases Macabre's fetish for serial killers, a characteristic that would eventually win them acclaim on the Sinister Slaughter (1993) and Dahmer (2000) albums. As you might expect, though, the band isn't anywhere near as musically developed as they were on these two standout records, relying more on the morbid themes of their lyrics than any sort of impressive songwriting. Even so, it's important to consider how ahead of their time the band was with this album, even if the music and the sound quality are a struggle at times. Good luck tracking this one down. It was originally re-released on CD with Gloom in 1989 by the Vinyl Solutions label.
