Details
[Edit]Softly mumbling over a soft chorus of horns and strings, Manishevitz aka Adam Busch is a modern master in the traditions of Van Dyke Parks and Leonard Cohen. Merging classic R&B touches with folk-based compositions, Busch mediates between the two to create songs both intricate and concise. While Busch doesn't have an expressive voice, only employing a small range of notes, he does consistently project an image of detached and distracted cool in his smartly constructed arrangements. While most tones are clearly on the somber side, tracks like "Cold Rubber Band" and "Oh Lilly!" approach an old-time pop feel that is alternately laid-back and elegant. Overall, Rollover is an album with considerable weight that rewards the listener with repeated listens.
