The ease with which these veterans of chouval bwa churn out grooves rooted in the DNA of Martinique's folklore is astounding. It's the hand on drum that makes repeated listening truly enjoyable. No drum machine could compete with the artistry on this album. "Matado" and "Sieno" are mid-tempo anthems of Antillean swing. The seasoned vocals, flute, and throbbing bass meld with the expert drumming in dovetailed rhythmic beauty. There's not a weak track on the album. They've been doing it so long that a limp track would be unthinkable when their poker's this hot. The unguent flow of the album comes from a deft variation in tempos and melodies making this one for the repeat button. Mix up rum with passion fruit, sit back, and feel the trade winds from Martinique refresh your mind and body. Very highly recommended.
