[Edit]Mario Ortiz's final recording as a bandleader may not be at the same level as his previous efforts, but manages to coast quite a long distance on the strength of the band's always sharp arrangements. Luigi Valentin and Roberto Dávila are excellent singers who do justice to tunes like "Será Que Soy Así," "Amar y Amando," "Tenía Razón," and "Si Supieras." Merengue star Bonny Cepeda has a nice starring role in a salsa tune ("¿Por Que de Mí?"). Incredibly, this band did not have a lot of public acceptance, one that they richly deserved. However, this great band (as well as arranger/bandleader Mario Ortiz) receives the almost unconditional reverence by fellow musicians and bandleaders, one that will continue to be a model for others to follow. ~ José A.
