Details
[Edit]Josh Presseisen's fourth album is by far the most accessible to date from the Boston producer, retaining the skittishness and easy on the ear values of the curiously obtuse wild-animals-from-space concept of his preceding Wolves Hollow long-player, but with a much rounder sound than previous full-length outings. The Aphex influences are again evident throughout the album, but are less obvious, spun through arrangements that occasionally twitch in unexpected directions. The jittery high speed percussion of "Indigo Florist" captures the spirit of the whole album with these beats, which would trounce everything around them in any other setting, finding themselves countered by a track which wanders along at its own pace, the ebb and flow dictated by the sonic tide of the bassline. Well thought out and emotional electronic music, whose occasionally naïve edge captures the spirit of Warp's Artificial Intelligence series.
