Details
[Edit]Hailing from the Bay Area, MC Lars is one of the biggest names in the "nerd rap" subset and has been putting out ultra-goofy, hyper-literate, left-field hip-hop since the late '90s. Similar in sound and content to jokey bands like They Might Be Giants and The Dead Milkmen (who actually appear on this album), he runs his own independent label (Horris Records) and has cultivated a seriously devoted fan base whose members populate message boards and eagerly await each new release. Musically, his sound's all over the place, sampling everything from classical to emo. His concert accompaniment generally includes a laptop and/or a punk rock band; he calls his style "post-punk laptop rap." While it's unlikely to set off a frenzy at the local club, his music is legitimately funny and uniquely entertaining. Highly recommended for fans of MC Chris, Paul Barman, and Adult Swim.
