[Edit]On the fourth album by the Basque (although they sing in Spanish) indie rock group led by Ricardo Lezón, producer Raul Pérez was brought in to further strip down McEnroe's emotive sound, in an effort to reach the bare intensity of their live performances. The familiar shades of Damien Jurado, Red House Painters, Will Oldham, and Tindersticks reappear for another bath of delicate sadness and melancholy ("Vistahermosa," "Agosto del 94"), occasionally interrupted by a fleeting ray of sunshine ("Las Mareas"). Orillas received glowing reviews from Spain's independent music press and blogs.
