Medicine Flutes by The Mesa Music Consort is the follow-up to their debut, Ceremonies of Dusk & Dawn. Unlike Ceremonies..., the focus is an exploration of the healing properties that many native peoples have attributed to the sound of the flute in both North and South America. The overall mood is very lighthearted. They convey a melodic and soothing energy that feels like a gentle salve. The Consort still employs its share of synthesizers, samples, and nature sounds, as well as generous amounts of drums, rattles, and other percussion, but they are used in a manner that enhances your awareness of the versatility and expressive range of the flute's inherent simplicity. This is for antone who enjoys lighter and more celebratory Native themes. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, Rovi
