This Institute is the brainchild of DJ/producer Camilo Lara, who, on Méjico Máxico, takes samples from vintage vinyl—some that collectors will recognize (like a few Esquivel sides), others more obscure. During "OK!" a couple different dance bands fade in and out of synthetic whooshes, as if you were hearing it all on an old transistor radio. On "CyberMambo," he gets the effect of a hot '50s band jamming along with his computers. This is electronica for record geeks, especially if you're a fan of Latin pop and dance.
