Details
[Edit]The German-born pianist is clearly a keen student of piano history as well as a remarkably promising synthesist of keyboard styles. In seven of his own compositions and as many lovingly chosen covers, he pays tribute on his third album to Albert Ammons, Scott Joplin, Thelonious Monk, Mose Allison, Dr. John, Les McCann, and other pianists. Besides support from many veteran Canadian musicians, New Orleans vet Art Neville sits in on the Hammond B-3 on two tracks recorded in the Crescent City. They even give that old chestnut "Drown in My Own Tears" a new, all-keyboard sound.
