Details
[Edit]In November 2004, guitarist Michael Musillami's trio played a successful concert at Dachau, a city that still suffers the legacy of its infamous Nazi-era concentration camp. To memorialize that occasion, this CD contains selections played on that occasion and other relevant Musillami originals. The music is abstract yet sometimes swings in its own fashion. The sparse trio is joined on two songs by pianist Peter Madsen, on one by tenor saxophonist Tom Christiansen, and on "Dachau" by Madsen, Christiansen, and trumpeter Dave Ballou. The music has its own logic and ranges from eccentric swinging sections to sound explorations. The Michael Musillami Trio is tight and is in top form throughout, making this a thought-provoking and worthy release of advanced jazz.
