[Edit]As his debut on his own Moods & Grooves label, Mike Grant's It's a Detroit Thing... offers two lengthy sides of soulful music, each with an accompanying piece of music. The A-side features "Hypnotize," a tech-feeling track with the funky dancefloor percussion of deep house that features a truly haunting vocal sample ("music in my dreams"). An accompanying reprise beginning with a short a cappella segment only adds to this song's allure. The B-side features "Sunlight," a serene synth-heavy track with an extending synth intro titled "Rest in Peace, My Brother" that seamlessly leads into "Sunlight." These two main tracks showcase a wonderful combination of tech-flavored synths and deep house rhythms, while also keeping creative DJs in mind with the accompanying reprise and intro.
